For all transfer students:
New Mexico Tech accepts academic credits from regionally accredited institutions of higher education. In order for transfer credits to be awarded, NMT must have received official college/university transcripts. Credits are processed on a course-by-course basis.
- To receive any Bachelor’s degree from NM Tech, all students are required to complete the New Mexico General Education Core Curriculum Requirements as well as the NM Tech Institute Requirements; for details go here:
New Mexico & NMT General Education Core Curriculum Requirements
For students transferring from New Mexico institutions:
- To see how 1000/2000 level courses transfer from other New Mexico colleges/universities to NMT, go to the NM Higher Education Department mandated "Crosswalk" link here:

For students transferring from out of state:
Once out-of-state students have accepted and paid for admission, their official transcripts will be processed for transfer credit on a course-by-course basis by the Transfer Specialist in the Registrar’s Office. If further course information is required, the student will be contacted. Once completed, the student and their academic advisor will receive a transfer credit report.
For all transfer and current NMT students:
General Rules About Transfer Credit (including articulated credit):
- An institution must be regionally accredited for courses to be considered for transfer credit.
- Students must pass courses with a letter grade of "C" or higher.
- NMT must have official transcripts from the transferring institution before credit will be awarded.
- Classes attempted at NMT may not be taken elsewhere and transferred back, unless the NMT class was withdrawn from or audited.
- Credits taken at another institution while serving a period of academic suspension will not be accepted for transfer.
- Students who would like to take a course that is not pre-approved for transfer should submit the course syllabus to registrar@92ujn.com for a decision about its transferability. Students are strongly encouraged to check the transferability of a course prior to registering for it.
